ABOUT
Meet the Maker.
Percy Stith, Founder/Visionary.
A veteran of New York’s fashion industry, Percy Stith came to hat making almost out of necessity. He’d lost his favorite Stetson, and the sticker shock of attempting to replace it awakened his memory of learning how to cut, block, and shape hats more than 15 years before. At Percy’s Hat Shop, Stith crafts wool chapeaus—many with leather bands—to customer specs, from dapper derbies to fedoras, high crowns to low-profile. He believes that the hat is the ultimate accessory, and revels in preserving the millinery craft with customers from all walks of life. ‘Everyone can look great in a hat! And everyone should be able to afford to have one.” - Percy
Percy’s Vision.
At the turn of the last century, wearing a hat wasn’t a trendy thing, it was just the thing folks did. Hats were more affordable, and wearing them was commonplace. From a walk to the store or to church on Sunday, people had a hat for every occasion. His vision is to make the craft and goods of handmade woolen hats affordable and accessible for everyone.
Our Commitment to being Cruelty Free.
We ensure that all of the animals who provide wool for our products live happy lives with ethical treatment. The choice to use wool is a choice for both animals and the planet. Sustainably and gently harvested, wool is the kindest hat making material possible, and the only one we care to use.
